Day 1: Tashkent - Nukus
In course of the Uzbekistan legend: Tour 6 you will have domestic flight to Nukus. Upon arrival you will have a sightseeing tour to see the the most prominent sights of the city as well as have an excursion in the Museum of Savitsky. Here you will be able to see the masterpieces of forbidden art of 20th century Russian avant-garde paintings of Sokolov, Komarovskiy and Amaravella group. In course of the Uzbekistan legend: Tour 6 you will know that the curator of the Karakalpakstan state museum of art gathered the artworks in 1960s. He bought or got them for free from persecuted soviet artists. The curator carefully preserved and after sometime he finally gathered his courage to exhibit them in this remote central Asian art-house. Later on you will drive outside of Nukus to see Mizdakhan necropolis. It was known as an ancient city centuries ago that was continuously captured from the 4th century BC till about 14th century AD. Day 2: Nukus - Ayaz Qala - Tuprak Qala - Khiva (290 km, 6 hours)
In course of the tour you will have a morning drive to the oldest city of Uzbekistan that is known as Khiva. During the travel you will learn that this city has connection to the legendary Khorezmshah's State the capital of which was Urgench. In 10th century this city was known as the major trading center of the Silk Road. Caravans of Great Silk Road stooped here on their route from China to west and vice versa. It was possible to see the endless chain of caravans that waited their turn to enter until sunset. Nowadays this site is considered to be one of the most unique city that was preserved from generations. During the route you will have a stop to witness two prominent fortresses: Ayaz Qala and Turpak Qala. You will be impressed to know that Ayaz Qala is an ancient castle of Khorezm that was named in honor of legendary warrior-slave Ayaz. He is Turkic folklore hero. Fortress dates back II century AD. Tuprak Qala that can be translated as the ‘clay fort' used to be the royal city of Khorezmian ruler Artav. This significant building was made in 1 or 2-century AD and was occupied until 6th century AD. Due to endless wars and invasions this city became lifeless. Night is in a hotel in Khiva.
Day 3: Khiva - Urgench - Tashkent
In course of the travel you will have a sightseeing tour in the oldest city of Uzbekistan. You will visit the famous inner city- Ichan-Qala. You will be impressed to see the site that is encircled by strong walls. Here you will see the centuries old sound buildings, palaces, mosques, Madrasahs, Mausoleums, Minarets, Caravan-Sarais and Bathhouses. All these wonderful sights made Ichan-Qala into unique city-monument. Nowadays you will be able to see the remains of at least 400 traditional dwelling houses and about 60 architectural monuments. Moreover in 1969 Ichan-Qala became historical and architectural conservation area. The highlighted sites of the tours here are the Kunya-Ark fortress dating back to 17th century, found by Muhammad Arang Khan, Kalta Minor minaret and Tash Khouvli palace, an incredible sample of Khorezm architectural mastership of 1830s. Evening flight to Tashkent. Night is in a hotel.
