The total square of the country covered 198,500 square kilometers and 93% of country is high mountains the quarter of them are covered with forests. The average height of Kyrgyzstan is 2750 meters asl. Our country is proud of breathtaking mountains, azure lakes and charming towns and villages full of traditions and history. The capital of Kyrgyzstan is Bishkek; it is a young city with only 132 years history. The Bishkek city is an economic, political, scientific and cultural centre of Kyrgyzstan .Nowadays there are more than one million people in Bishkek. It is situated in central part of Chui valley at the foot of Kyrgyz range, at a height of 700 meters above sea level. Bishkek used to be one of the greenest cities in Central Asia.
On the 31st of August in 1991 Kyrgyzstan became an independent country since we have celebrated at this date our Independence Day.
