Kazakhstan legend: Tour 6

Day 1: Almaty
On arrival in Kazakhstan you will be met and transferred to Green Bazaar. You will enjoy shopping and learn more about local life. Then the tour will continue in one of the oldest Almaty parks - Panfilov Park as well as see the most beautiful wooden buildings in the world - Zenkov Cathedral. The next destination is the Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame, dedicated to the memory of the combatants who died for freedom and independence of Kazakhstan. In the afternoon we will travel to the Medeo Gorge and see the highest mountain skating rink in the world and the dam. The next destination is the Kok Tobe hill where the tallest TV tower in the world is located. Here you will wlak along the winding paths of the park and admire the superb panorama of the city from the special observation deck. In the end of day you will have a short ride from the top of the hill to the center of the city by the famous Almaty cableway. Transfer to hotel for sleep.

Day 2: Almaty - Tamgaly - Altyn Emel
In the morning we will drive to Altyn Emel national park. We will have a break at Tamgaly Tas. We will pass by artificial Kapshagai water reservoir as the biggest in Almaty region, with the casinos of "Kazakh Las Vegas" on its bank. We will arrive to Tamgaly Tas, the first exploring destination on the bank of Ili river. Tamgaly Tas is an amazing monument with images of Buddha's and texts in Tibetan, Kalmyk and other languages. Then we will drive 2 hours to Basshi village, which is located at the territory of Altyn Emel National Park and have an excursion to the Singing Dune. It reaches a height of 150 meters and a length of about 3 km, and is located in one of the corners of the Altyn Emel National Park. You will see pure sand, which starts to "sing" in windy weather and its sound prompts the organ music. Then you will return to Basshi village overnight in a cozy hotel.

Day 3: Altyn Emel
On this tour we will drive along unpaved park roads over 80 km for 2 hours to the Aktau Mountains. Aktau Mountains (White Mountains) are paleontological field. In the layers of Paleogene lacustrine deposits can be found remains of ancient animals whose age is about 25-30 million. Among the finds there are the remains the giant rhinos, crocodiles, turtles. In addition, you will see mountains remind the Egyptian pyramids and are an enchanted scene of the variety of shapes and colors.  After sightseeing at Aktau mountains, you will return to Basshi village for overnight.

Day 4: Altyn Emel - Charyn - Almaty 
Today we will travel to Ash-tree Grove on the Temerlik River. Near the Charyn River and its tributary Temirlik can be found a unique place, where species of Sogdian Ash-tree are growing. The legend says that 5 million years ago a wind puffed an aerial seed of Sogdian Ash-tree in the "Valley of Yurts". In 1964 the Ash-tree Grove gained status of the monument of nature and looks like an open-air museum. Afterwards is transfer to Charyn Canyon. When you reach there you will see outstanding panorama and go down the stairs to the bottom of the canyon, then walk around 2 km through the maze of the Castles Valley with its walls. Charyn Canyon is very famous not only in Kazakhstan but also worldwide appeared at the period of Paleogene and reminds the Grand Canyon of Colorado River in North America in size. Day 5: Flight
